After a year of planning...

Two days to Hawaii!

Today is my last day at work. Tomorrow we drive to Dayton to leave the dogs with a friend, and then drive to Charleston, WV for an early morning flight at 630AM Saturday.

It's been a crazy and somewhat stressful week. Right now, I'm looking forward to getting on CO Flight 1, 767 from IAH to HNL, and CRASHING. Wake me up when we start our desent into HNL!

Will I have a job when I get back? That's also added to the stress. My desk is cleared, just in case. The ax comes down next week. Will our area be affected? I think so, the question is just how many and who. One scenario I've had in my mind has it going very deep.

I'll try not to think about it on the trip, but it will be hard not to. I'm undecided. I though I should take my company Crackberry with me. When I couldnt check my email, I would know. Theh I could go to the top deck and hurl the BB into the Pacific.

On the other hand, I think I might just wait and see if my badge works on May 5th.

What a perfect weekend!

Sunny, 80’s. It was windy, but it didnt bother me! Just getting out, getting sun, working on my cycling tan! It was all good.

Back to the crapiness

At least the weekend wasn't a total bust. And the coming weekend sounds even better.

Well, as for my job status, it's still wait and see. The announcements will be made on the week of May 4, while I'm in Hawaii. Will my badge let me in on the morning of May 12?

The past weekend was almost perferct weather wise. Saturday was clear, and in the mid 70's. We had visitors from out of town, so my riding time was reduced, but I still managed to get in a decent ride, and I now have my cycling tan started.

Despite the forecast of rain for Sunday, it held off until late in the day, and was actually a decent day. I decided to go over and race at Vandervorts. Did much better than last week, fininshing in the field.

This weekend sounds great. Clear and pushing 80. I would really like to drive over to Gettysburg for the race Sunday, but we still have lots of yardwork to do and plants to get in the ground. If we don't do it this weekend, it will be three weeks until we can get to it. Guess I know what will overrule.

ELEVEN DAYS TO HAWAII!!!!!!!

Wednesday, April 15, 2009

Finally, a dry morning.

I might actually be able to get off the rollers today.

The forecast for the end of the week is great, sunny and in the 60's. I would like to do the Hocking Hills race, but we have visitors coming in for the weekend, so I will have to get my ride in early both Saturday and Sunday (if it's dry).

I will need to spend some time the next few days listing items on Ebay. I have a lot of cycling kits that I cant wear, or havent worn. I might even put my goalie gear up. Somehow I think I am totally done with hockey.

Almost two weeks to Hawaii. Will I go unemployed or one who dodged the bullet. I might find out today.

Tomorrow is D Day

And it's not about taxes.

Five hundred jobs are being eliminated, and tomorrow we hear where the cuts are being made.

Will I make the cut? Why do I feel I have a bullseye on my back?

Race Recap

Deer Creek- April 11

Not much to recap....but here it is.

Instead of the Big Brother audition, I opted to head for the race instead. I had already paid my entry fee. (Don't worry Big Brother..you will get my audition tape!)

It was the first race of the season for me, so I wasn't too sure what to expect.

It was a windy, brisk days (upper 40's, winds gusty from the NE. Seemed like a constat headwind). Not a difficult course, but the wind was going to be trouble for anyone who got dropped. And that was me. Count it as a training ride.

Next race- Gettysburg, OH. April 26

Decent weekend

I didn't get the miles I wanted. And I wasn't fully recovered from yeserday's race

It was sunny, but the winds were brisk and with temps in the low 50’s it made for some brisk miles

TGIF, and in 3 weeks it will be "Aloha"!

And in 22 days we sail from Honolulu!

My week on call is over, meaning I can get back to a normal life. Two pages the whole week which is good, but it's a relief knowing I dont have to carry the company crackberry with me everywhere, and means I can get a decent ride in, finally.

Last week was a bust. Saturday was clear, but cool and windy. I spent most of the day in garden centers. No ride. Sunday, the weather was better, and I did get in a decent ride, but still not what I wanted or needed. Since I was on call, I had to keep it close to home.

The weather this week has been up and down. Cold and rain/snow mix on Mon and Tue, sunny but cool and windy on Wed and Thur. Today is forecated to be wet and cool.

But, we are forecasted to have a sunny weekend. although temps will still be a bit below normal. Hoepfully I can out for a decent ride tomorrow afteroon. I've got a lot on plate, so I will have to make time.

I had originally planned on racing the Deer Creek Road Race tomorrow. When I entered I was afraid Saturday was going to be a bad day to race, and that's exaclty the way it's turning out to be.
