Needed a change

Winter hangs on. Another cold, snowy day in Central Ohio. Will spring ever get here??

I had a really hard time getting motivated to get on the trainer or rollers today, so I opted to get my goalie gear together and hit a drop in.

This was my first time on the ice in at least two months, closer to three. I was rusty. But I had a great time. May not sell the goalie gear after all

Friday – finally!

It’s been a long week.

I’ve been fighting off a cold all week. It hasnt been that bad, but I’ve had an occasional sore throat and cough. I’ve been tired, with achy joints, and haven’t slept that well. Right now, I’m totally exhausted.

I’ve been riding the rollers this week, which I don’t think has aggravated to cold. But I took today off hoping it will help me get over.

Snow comes back tomorrow. Geez, cant we just be done with it.

Finally, out of the basement again

Certainly wasn’t the best day. In fact, it was one of those bone chilling days, but it was dry and there was a little sun, so I was off the rollers and took the fixie out for an hour and a half ride. Great ride, but it took forever to get warmed up.

I should be able to get in a road ride tomorrow before the rain, and winter, returns

Out of the basement!

Finally, I got on the road.

Clear, 40 degrees a little breezy, with wet roads, but it was great!  And I have to say I’m very pleased with my fitness level. I’m by far the fittest I have ever been in February. So, as bad as I hated those basement miles, they were not garbage miles!

Now, I gotta get the grime cleaned off the bike. I should be able to get in another ride tomorrow before the rain moves in. Might even get the fixie out

Not a total waste

The road ride didn’t happen. The roads were still very sloppy and wet. The wind was ripping. Even though it was near 50, it was a bone chiller with the dampness.

So, back to the basement for a one hour roller hammer fest. My legs are trashed.

I might be able to get out tomorrow afternoon. The forecast for tonight is for rain, and in the mid 40’s, which should help melt the slush. Tomorrow's forecast is partly cloudy and in the low 40’s

The warmup is here!

Sunny and near 40 today. But the streets are still a mess. Today will spent getting my bike off the trainer, cleaned up and chain lubed for a road ride tomorrow. Sound like it will be a breezy day..but who cares. I’ll go out of the city where I know the streets are clear, and will make it a great day

Woo Hoo!

Ready to start the season!

Yesterday, the warm up continued. In fact, if I had planned ahead I could have brought the bike to work and rode from New Albany. The roads had some wet spots, and temps were in the mid 30's. But it was rideable. In the city, it was different. Roads were really messy. Not worth it.

Today we were forecasted to have snow. As of this time, it is clear and 28 degrees. Not perfect and again another situtaion if I had planned ahead, I might have been able to get a road ride in. Oh well, back to the basement.

In the meantime, I just renewed my USAC license. I'm exited about the season head.

I'll go home, have a killer roller ride, and then shave my hairy legs.
