TGIF
At least we have had a nice warm-up. Hopefully that will continue. But there is the old myth about three snows after the forsythia’s bloom. Not sure if it is a myth actually. It happened last year. We did salvage two good days this week, so far. Today sounds rideable, as well as tomorrow morning (or at least at this point, sound likes tomorrow afternoon the storms come in). Sunday's forecast is rain and snow mix. Back to the forsythia’s!
I've been planning our excursions for the Hawaii trip. So far, the only confirmed outing, for myself, will be a ride on Maui. I thought about renting a bike and doing it on my own. But it was recommended that I check with Go Cycling Maui. I emailed to see if the Haleakala ride would be doable.
Time restraints have been a consideration. Our ship docks at Maui at 8AM on Tuesday and leaves at 6PM on Wed (bound for Kauai). I've got to consider the time needed to get in a decent ride and still do the tourist and family things. For me the ride up to Haleakala would be the epic ride, I also realize that time was a factor here.
Donnie said the ride up Haleakala would be tough make work coming from the cruise ship. He said he has tried that a few times with others and it was so tight on time that it was a hassle. He recommended an out and back on the West Maui mountains. It sounds great as well so that will be the ride I will go with. It's not Haleakala, but then again, I'm somewhat of a flatlander. I probably wouldn’t have been ready for it.

Not the day I had hoped..try again tomorrow.
The weather, at least most of the day, was not as nice as it had been forecasted to be. It was cloudy, and a chill with temps in the low 40’s, even early afternoon.
I spent the morning getting my internet connection back up. We switch over to Time Warner digital (bundle with cable, internet, and phone). The TW tech couldn't get us connected to the internet, so I had to find the one step he was missing.
By the time that was done, I had given up on the weather improving so I got in a short, but productive ride in. Of course, when I got home, the sun cam out and it warmed up to the mid 50’s.

Back to reality. Counting the days to Hawaii
The weather was great so we more of the tourist things this time. Except for Hoover Dam. Already seen the dam dam.
At least when we got back to Ohio we had decent weather, and I've been able to get in some decent miles. But it is Ohio, so you know that it wont last. Today in the lower 70's, tomorrow in the mid 40's. Guess I need to remember that a few weeks ago I was looking forward to the day when we would reach the mid 40's.
Now is the time to start planning my races. There's a few races next month that I need to take a look at. One thing is for sure, I'm much better preapred this year than I was last year.
I also need to start plannnig our excursions for the Hawaii Cruise. I've already made arrangements for bike rentals in Maui and Kauai

Back to reality..
but 48 days to Hawaii!
As great of a trip that it was, I have to say it was great to get home.
I didn’t lose too much money, I held my restraint as I knew the Hawaii trip is coming up. We did more of the tourist things during the day, spending time in the casinos at night. Not as many buffets since we had a rental car, but maybe too many trips to In-N-Out. I only gained 4 pounds.
Not excited to go to work tomorrow, but, as I said earlier, 48 days to Hawaii!

Vacation time!
Finally, vacation time is here.
We leave for Vegas on Monday. For me, it’s more of a chance to enjoy (hopefully) warmer weather and a time to relax. (It sounds like the weather here in Columbus is going to be cloudy and wet starting Sunday.) I’ve thought about renting a bike and getting in some miles. We’ll see how plans work out. The real vacation.. the one that’s taking up my time planning, is the Hawaiian cruise in May.
I did get out of the basement yesterday. It was close to 60 and sunny. It was great. I should have gotten out today, but I didnt feel like fighting the wind. Tomorrow’s forecast is partly cloudy and near 70. Sounds like a road ride!

Got to get serious, again.
Last week started off really good. And that 50 degree, sunny day, on Wednesday was a big plus. Then the weather turned wet, too many things to do, and a weekend trip to West Virginia meant no riding since last Wednesday.
Now, here we are, on the 3rd of March, and the temp, at 5PM, is 20, going down to 4 to 9 degrees tonight.
I did get a decent roller ride in, and it was good to get back on the diet. Now I need to get the weight off as much as I can, because next week is Vegas, and probably way too many Paris buffets. Regardless, our first stop will be the Paris!
